How can you know whether a revelation you receive is from
G-d, your own desires, or from satan?

We have briefly discussed the deceptive ways of satan. Instead of learning and further studying satan, you should become so familiar with the ways of G-d that anything contrary will be self evident.  The Royal Canadian Mounties train men in anti-counterfeiting. They never let a trainee see a counterfeit bill. They examine and study diligently every nuance of a genuine bill. Then when they see a counterfeit it is self evident, because it is flawed.

When the G-d of the universe is speaking to you, you need to write it down, find confirmations in Scriptures, and meditate on it. Why? 

To make sure that the rest of the Bible agrees with your conclusion that this was G-d speaking to you. Remember, satan can speak into your mind too. So research what G-d’s Word to you says and if the thought you received is in line with the WHOLE Word, you have just heard from G-d!  

After you pray pay attention!  After you pray and ask for something, EXPECT IT TO HAPPEN and watch for what G-d is doing. If you forget about what you prayed for and just figure you gave it to G-d to work out, when He starts to work, you may see what He is doing as a distraction because you forgot what you asked for. 

May I suggest you keep a journal of your requests, His answers, and His thoughts to you? By re-reading it from time to time, you will be greatly encouraged seeing how G-d is at work in your life. Remember to date each entry.

The best way I know to pray effectively is to look-u p t he scriptures that apply to your situation. List these scriptures on a sheet and use G-d’s own words to bring about the answer to your prayer. Why?

Isaiah 55:11 It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it. 

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by G-d and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right.

Let’s use an example of you having a bad temper. You desire to change. Pray these Scriptures out loud and you will be speaking forth G-d’s directions from your mouth, into your ears. Remember when you pray G-d’s own Words, which He promises will not return to Him without succeeding in the matter for which it was sent, you are praying with the greatest power in existence. Be persistent in praying. Bad habits don’t come overnight and they rarely go away quickly either. (It takes about 30 days to break a habit). Another suggestion is to insert your first name into each Scripture.

Proverbs 15:1 (Your name), a gentle answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger.

Proverbs 17:14 Beginning a quarrel is like opening a floodgate, so dro p t he matter (your name) before a dispute breaks out.

Ephesians 4:31,32 (Your name), get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of malicious behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as G-d through Messiah has forgiven you.
