What is a "quiet time" and how do I have one?

Let’s talk about what is commonly called a “quiet time”.

The purpose of a quiet time is to take the time to get to intimately know, talk with, and hear from G-d.

A thought… If we don’t maintain a quiet time each day, it’s not really because we don’t have time or we’re too busy, it is because we do not feel it is important enough. So keep straying off the straight line. G-d is patient and will let you take as many “do-overs” as you need, until you get it right.

So exactly how do you have a quiet time and what do you do in it? Here is an outline provided by my good friend and Rabbi, Steve Weiler.

Sample Quiet time

Either read the following prayer each day or write your own and read it)

Dear Lord:  I want to meet You every morning.  I want to speak to You and hear from You.  I will lay down my life for You and follow You where ever You lead.  Please direct me.  Please help me follow You.  Help me to pray in every situation.  Please give me the faith to pray.  Please remind me to pray.  There is nothing too large or too small in my life that does not require prayer for Your direction.  I pray for an anointing to carry out the ministry that You have given me:  my family and my work.  Fill me with knowledge and wisdom by Your Ruach haKodesh.  Strengthen all my relationships, filling me with Your grace in order for me to be humble, compassionate and loving at all times.  Let me be a true leader at home, at school, in my congregation, and in every walk of life.  Let me not walk in the flesh, but anoint me moment by moment.  May I give You the glory in all things.  Allow people to come to You because of me.  Thank You.  In the Name of Yeshua.
